Orphan-well locations and types from the Texas Railroad Commission public GIS. Methane plumes from Carbon Mapper airborne surveys (2019–2026). Aerial chips are USDA NAIP via the Microsoft Planetary Computer. A well shows red when a plume was detected within 150 m of the recorded wellhead — an orphan well (no responsible operator) sitting on a methane plume is the top candidate for a field visit. This is a proof of concept, not a regulatory dataset.
